You know, that would be perfect!! I bet I could build something like that...Here's a link for anyone looking to see what Kent is referring to.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSeZ1eQzDvI

I have enough trouble now, if I forget to slow down for a turn I go for a loop. Going straight no problem.

I figured with the rain here and there I might see a significant jump in the river...But so far nothing...Just a few tenths of a foot and back down by the weekend......
Kent, I'm thinking you have a better chance at adding some wings and getting airborne than I do......Your engine was already in the air it would know what to do...

Well, since the water isn't cooperating with my new build I didn't waste any time this weekend ...Figuring this might be the last near 70 degree weekend here I went ahead and sprayed the tow vehicle body to get it done...Nothing fancy just a single stage urethane in PR4 flame red as originally colored on the durango...Man am I glad that's over...The paint flowed out nicely and is super smooth and shiny...I still need to prep the bumpers and shoot them with a flex additive in the paint but that can be done at any time after all the major assembly is done... the new boat and tow rig should look good on the road...

beautiful work corky i love to see a job like this come together. my x wife had one and loved it but when it got too many miles on it 200,000 thousand she traded it in on a new honda wth all the new fancy stuff. not me my minivan turned 200,000 this week and going strong. the last van had 498000 thousand. before being retired to junk yard. you got something there that should last a long time.

I figured I'd throw up some more progress pics on the tow vehicle...There's so much work involved getting it done I'll show just how much masking goes into something like this when doing the door jambs, rear lift gate, etc...Not only do you need to cover the whole vehicle for the jambs but then you need to mask the jambs for the vehicle paint !!,,After that comes reassembly of the exterior items like door latches, mirrors, rear lift gate hardware...Yeah, I went overboard on the cheap tow vehicle...More pics tomorrow I need some of where I'm at now...

WOW!
Some old clunker...
Yeah, I resurrected another one from the dead that's for sure...There's a pick-and-pull junkyard about an hour from here and there's at least 30 durangos there...That was one of the deciding reasons for fixing this one...The parts are dirt cheap and plentiful...Most are hitting that 20 year wave where they're dead and in the boneyard...
As an example I pulled a whole, like new formed headliner and sunvisors from a donor...A whopping $5.50 !! I got the new, unrusted rear liftgate for $25.00 complete with glass, rear wiper motor etc...Pretty much just unbolted it and carried it out...New hood for $20.00{old one was dented all over like it was caught in a hail storm}All the door/window weatherstripping for $10.00...I can't go wrong with that kind of pricing...

Corky, Wow ! Your doing one heck of a job on the Durango. Are you getting those parts from the yard up by Sunbury or by Pinegrove? When you are all finished, no launching the boat on a dirt & gravel ramp... Don't want you getting the tires dirty !!! Guess I should check the boneyard the next time I need something... I needed to replace a headlight on the Buick Enclave, they are the HID xenon bulbs.... I called Troutman's before doing any research on aftermarket parts. They wanted $620 to change the one light
bulb !!! I checked utube for an install... Purchased a bulb for $160 at autozone... took about 45 minutes.
Kent, I'm going to EZ pull in New Ringold for the parts....Those HID bulbs are always over $100 no matter what they're going in...Now, with LEDs a burned out icon in the dash cluster gets a whole "rebuilt" cluster for hundreds instead of the single bulb for a few bucks...They've been saying for years the dealerships want to get you to the point where you can't do anything yourself so you're committed to using them...We're almost there...

I figured I'd wrap up this thread showing the finished product...So it's time for the pics from today's photo shoot....I've added some bigger, more aggressive tires for winter duty, new headlight assemblys and off-road lights with matching covers, blasted and painted the push-bar to match the vehicle's theme...Completely undercoated the undercarriage to keep the road salt away as much as possible...
