Impressive !! It definitely looks like you'll have some power there thanks for posting the video..... I don't know about you but just seeing that thing want to take-off like that would be like a breath of fresh air motivating me to keep on building...I'm happy for you...Congratulation on the design and progress...

If you only knew the relief it was to have to try and stop it.
Revving down it drug me feet
it looks like you are going to be ready to put this in the water as soon as spring break up is over. looking good
Spring brake up is over now.
At least on the river.
Still no way to steer yet and no controls up front .
Going boating/ hunting in the morning.
lucky you. we still have a ways to go, below is something that has been going on since 1918, to mark when spring break up is starting in the interior.
it is called the Nenana Ice Classic, you buy tickets with guesses as to what minute the tripod on the Nenana river will start moving, usually the winning number gets around 300,000. as you can see from the link, it is still just a little ways off, the river has broken up as early as April 20th, and late as May 20th.
have fun hunting in the morning

I needed some U joints for the steering on the waterbug.
There like $30 each on the computer, I need three.
They turn slow and only one revolution so I did not need precision just flex to change sides of the boat with My tubing. They fit over the 1" tubing I'm using.
Handle bars will turn a drum with cables to the tubing shaft.
The shaft will run the length of the boat to the back.
Then a drum back there too with cables to the steering arms on the rudders .
Closer by the day...
Well
At long last I have steering for the waterbug.
Still needs adjusting and cable tightening.
I'll get some pics and maybe a Video up this week.
After two weeks of rain and trial and error I have steering on the water bug.

Nice job on thinking out of the box...I like it.....

Thanks your always kind and quick to give encouragement.
Sometimes What I NEED is your and all the others Honest Opinion on some of the
Directions I'm going/gone.
I love to do things MY way but sometime I need a reality check, and thoughts
from all you and all vast experience ad knowledge.
Thanks again.
i like the steering, you kept it simple and it looks like it should be trouble free.
the question i have is. were the pulleys extra ones, or did you take them off the garage door? just asking.
Came as a kit, two drums and two cables , just saying
i have replaced a few garage doors back in the day, and from the quick video, they looked similar to the drums that are used on the overhead garage doors, so i thought that was what you were using.
Working on the accelerator. On a VW motor single carburetor the butterfly leavers need about 3" of movement.
I'm trying to use the thumb leaver off the snowmobile or maybe the brake lever but they only give me about an inch
of movement. I have tried serval "Bell crank" set ups with out any luck.
Finally, I think I'm on the right track. It's a leaver and pully set up to Pull from the back of the butterfly linkage.
If I use the long part of the leaver to actuate the butterfly and WAY down near the bottom for the thumb leaver cable.
I Think I will need to use the hand brake leaver to get enough leverage to open it with only one hand.
Now I have to think of a way to mount the cable to the motor somehow/ somewhere .
It's been a few weeks of trial and error . I need to get past this and start the trailer.
I just can't get the movement I need with a thumb accelerator on the handle bars .
I'm going t have to do a gas peddle thing.
a three to one ratio for a thumb throttle, might have been very touchy, and depending on the return spring pressure, that can tire a thumb after 10 minutes. i know every winter when i start up snowmachining, that thumb can get tired real quick.
hope you are able to find a way to route the cable, so water doesn't get in it and freeze in the fall.
but it is looking like you are on the final stretch.
can't wait to see it running in the water
thinking out of the box sometimes is a good thing. it keeps things interesting. your doing a geat job. keep it up.
