Haha!! That's funny...I get that alot too...And give the same answer....But I'm starting to get the feeling in need to move faster with mine now that spring has sprung...
Yeah im not in a rush to get this one done. The worst thing (in my opinion) would be to rush things because that is when mistakes are made. I'll enjoy this build because frankly after building the other two with each one changing the build and design for the better....I now know exactly what I want and dont tell anybody but itll be put into next years airboat show . I got a buddy that has issued a friendly challenge for next year as hes building a mini using a cbr 1000 motorcycle engine. Ive seen what he can do so I gota step it up on this one.. soo I got time.

Happy Birthday Steve !!!
Thanks corky was a long rough weekend for sure lol. Been a very long time since ive posted any updates here on my build. Ive been real busy with work lately and can only manage a half hour or so before or after work to tinker. Since my last update ive managed to only get my front 2 bow pieces cut and clecoed into place. Im not likeing the looks of it though due to it being to small up front and not letting me get the bow profile that im after.....soooo ill be cutting it a little shorter so that I can do what im after with the nose roll radius and a slight drop up font.

It has been a very very long time since I have reported any progress on this build. And truth be told it's because I haven't been working on it like I'd like. Let's catch all up to date...I have all three stringers riveted in, transom riveted in, and both front chines riveted in place...essentially I have a floating hull if I really wanted to lol. Lately I have been working on making a 6' sheet metal brake so that I can continue on my build in the way of bending up my nose (bow) piece of aluminum witch is just shy of 6' wide. It's been so long since I've been on this site let's see if I can still remember how to post some pics for everyone.....

transom all riveted together..
I wasn't liking how the bow looked so I cut about 6 inches off it...
all three stringers riveted in place...
next was to rivet the transom in...
and then I finally got those 2 front bow chines in place that I was dreading. Next is going to be to either finish making the brake so I can make my nose piece and/or start building the structure for all the decking....so far I think this hull as it sits weighs around 110 lbs

Very nice !!! Looks like you've made some good progress....What scared you off with the nose ??? Too pointy ??? Too thin ??? Just curious...

Yeah it ended up too pointy for me. I got half way through and was leaning towards a real pointy nose and then saw a boat at the ramp that I liked a lot more so I cut a bit off. I was going to do more so that I get a real sick drop on the front but that might have been pushing things a little short and close to the water to the point of possibly sticking it under water if I turned 360's lol

Nice progress! Don't worry about dipping the nose, when doubt power out! I've done it a few times but I don't get wet. The front passenger get a 'little' wet though. Deeper water will do it every time.

Ok so I got my sheet metal brake welded up and managed to bend up my nose piece. Came out pretty good..not quite the exact radius but I can fenagle it to work.

That's going to look great...I think you've got the radius very close it should be an easy fit from here....

When I made my front pieces I didn't get a perfect radius so it'll just need a little bit of persuading to get it right . But yeah it is pretty close so I just have to make all the bracing for where it will attach to the top deck and then get it riveted in and move on to the next step. Thanks for the words of encouragement

Wow it has been a loooong time since any updates on this.....I have good reason though...I was planning my wedding . After I tied the knot and all the dust settled I was able to start up again. Sice my last post I have built all the inner structure of the deckover part. I got almost all the top deck sheets cut and drilled for future riveting. I got a gas tank built and built a front box for storage under the deck. I also managed to get the spindle made for my reduction drive which took some serious and precise time on the lathe. I don't have the top decks riveted on yet because I'm going to wait for all the rigging to get done fIt's so I don't get any burn marks on the decks. Oh and I also got my rudders ready to be riveted together. I also managed to get a weight of the top decks clecoed in place and the entire boat weighs in at 195 lb which is awesome. My goal was to make the hull lighter and wider then my yellow hull which weighed in at 220lb so that was a success. Now if I can remember how to post pics I'll get some loaded up shortly.

Congratulations Steve !! Looks like the fourth build might be a bigger boat. . I was wondering how you were progressing on the build..

here's a pic of most of the inner braces for the top deck
the bow clecoed in place temporarily so I can measure where to cut.
the bow and 2 side pieces where they go. Again clecoed
the under deck storage box that slides back for access. I'll make some kind of latch to hold it from sliding. I may put some plastic under the sliding part so that it's smoother.

here is the gas tank I had custom made to fit under my back deck. I had the guy put the pickup spot in the wrong spot so I have since had it moved. I'll just plug that spot off and leave it..maybe make like a reserve spot.
my rudder bits and pieces ready to me riveted. Just have to drill some more holes. I wanted to weld them together but they are only .040 and I would need a tight welder to do that and make it look good anyways.
and finally got the top spindle made on the lathe. The threads were actually kinda fun to do. I have to just cut a keyway in the one end that goes into the support plate.
I also made 2 different adapter plates for the Rotax 75mm bolt pattern and the LXL bolt pattern for a water walker prop I'm having made and am going to try. Both have helicoils in the respected holes.

Very nice craftsmanship as usual...That underdeck storage drawer is a great idea...It looks like some serious thought went into your build...Combine that with the level of quality control and you've got a great hull being built there...
