There is a father and son running the Rotax motors here in my area. One is running that same motor. Not sure what the other is.

Hi Oran ... welcome to the site! Just curious .... what happened to the Challenger? Wish I could offer some help but I'm running a continental 4a084 on mine. There's quite a bit of experience here on this site though.

I hit a power line one day coming in for a landing i tore the plane up pretty good my wife want let me build another one so two years after the crash I dicided. To put put the engine on a airboat
Glad to see you weren't majorly hurt with the crash. Welcome to the site and I think that will be a great engine for a mini. Ought to really scoot along. How much hp does that engine have? And what size prop are you spinning?
Hull:10'6"x69" 1/2 deckover .100

I have not decided yet I am trying to find out what size prop I will be able to spin with the rotax 582 with a 2.6 1 I think about a three blade warp drive 64"but not sure I hope I get some replies!
Take a look at the whirlwind 3 blade. Your prop speed should be right in there with its performance curve and ive read some good reviews on them. And I think they will flex less so itll add more thrust. Atleast thats my take on it.

ok I will check it out thanks !!!
hp on the rotax 582 is 65 and it has 30 hrs on rebuild by rotax rick in Naples Fl.
There are many props available thatll work with that kind of horsepower. I would call whirlwind and ask if thwy would suggest there mini prop. If youd like I can talk to a buddy at water walker props and see if he has a prop thatll work with that engine setup. They make very wide props for big boy motors but ya never know. Though they are a little pricey I think.

I agree ... call Whirlwind and talk to Patti, she's really knowledgeable on prop applications.
She spec'd out mine and it was perfect for the application.

I final got my 116.5 hull from marty brays I ordered some frog spit t put o bottom has any body tried spraying it with a HVLP gun does it have to be a special tip I have sprayed some pretty thick paint with it no problems
Ive only used the steel flex and a roller. Its pretty thick stuff. Id say call the manufacturer and get there take on it? Glad to see your back at it.

ok I will us I have been waiting for the hull to be built I had the cage built from air tech ultra lights I have just about everything to start putting it together I am at work for two weeks .
My 583 with the same gear ratio turns a 2 blade 70" Whirlwind Razor X-Core. Rotax Rick also went through mine. Pitch is now set to hold WOT on trailer just below 8k rpm. Had Rick put a clutch in my C box. Great addition!!! My hull is Alumitech 12' x 7' ultra light.
I am in the middle of up grading to a c box with 3.47 to 1 with a 4 blade 72 inch with a clutch warp drive prop I had a 66 inch 3 blade razor x whirl wind prop it wasn't producing enough thrust .
You might want to look for a c box with 2.6 to 1 gears. Power band on 582 (583) is 6-6.5k rpm. You need prop speed up around 2.5 k to get to most out of whirlwind razors. I ditched my warp drives after running razors. JMO
I. Am getting advice from airtech ultralight they they build air boats with this engine everything is bought and on the airboat I have it at their shop fixing a idle problem. So I hope they know what they air talking but I agree that that the whirl wind props are better than the warp drive props I was just trying to go with the set up that they were using
I am going to work for two week's I will keep you posted when I come back from work.
