Aerokirk, thanks for taking the time to show the details of your build... It turned out very nice and It's something to be proud of... This video ties all the detailed pics together and makes for a great, comprehensive coverage of the build...The stainless materials you've used should give you years of trouble free service with low maintenence from the elements.. WELL DONE!!

Nice work! I didn't use all that fancy stuff on mine. I used nuts and bolts for swivels and such. I have over eight years on my boat and its still working. I'd never dare to do a video like that of my boat but hey, I've never had a problem and being retired put more hours on than most. Very nice job.

Re: Walk-Around Inspection of my Newly Completed Mini

When I first started my build I intended to use all the nuts, bolts and junk I had laying around here too but after succumbing to the lure of buying a Bray hull (which in itself put me over my build budget) I talked it over with my wife and she told me to go ahead and buy what I needed to make it the way I really wanted it to be. The caveat was that I needed to sell some of my other possessions, namely my Blazer and my Honda Goldwing which I did. That gave me the needed cash to go with the stainless and custom fittings, etc. I guess you could call this my one-time retirement extravaganza. I've really had to cut back on any new purchases now because I don't want to dip into my retirement savings

    Nice video ,thanks for sharing.
You sound like me on the air boats ,after building several and experimenting I decided this boat was going to be first class new motor ,prop, gear reduction and hull,I might be slow on this build but it will be done right and as I can afford it.

Thanks for all your kind remarks! I hope all of you will get as much satisfaction from your builds as I have. There's just something special about starting with raw materials and building something piece by piece without following someone else's plans. It makes all the hours so worth it!

Hey Ted; what size oil cooler did you use? It looks like a 34 pass.

    Kenneth,
Took me a while to look up my order; it's a 15 row 10 an aluminum engine/transmission racing oil cooler from Sickspeed on EBay. Not sure if I really needed one this big but my temps have been really good so I guess there's no harm in going big!

Thanks for the info; I think the large cooler is a very good idea. The cooler it runs the better.
    Thanks again, Kenneth

Another suggestion, when mounting the oil cooler I would mount it side ways so it doesn't block as much air from the prop. Every bit counts on these small engined boats. With it sideways there is still enough air going over it to cool the oil. My oil temps run at 130-160 depending how hard I am running at the time.

You may think this little suggestion is no big deal so here's an example. I can tell the difference when running my front seat in the upright position. When I fold it down I can tell the difference. Now when I go out alone I leave the second seat at home.

Good idea; I noticed Papee has his mounted to the side. And I do agree with you on any air constriction {drag}; I am trying to make mine as aerodynamic as possible.
    Thanks for your help!

What size exhaust pipe and length to the Y?

Also, do you have any plans to open up the intake breather filter housing/bigger opening to receive more air?

    Thank you,
    Jim

Thanks John and welcome to the site!
I've gotten over one hundred hours on my boat and have made many updates since that video. I plan on making an updated video in the near future to hopefully help future builders make some of their decisions
