    Kawasaki TA 440

Hey guys, I recently purchased a used Kawasaki 440 engine. I am trying to figure out exactly what model that I have. The numbers it has on it are TA440A-F204. The research that I’ve done on it lead me to believe it’s only supposed to have one carb on it, but this one has two. Is the correct model number? If so, where can I get parts for this engine? It has a recoil starter on it, but I am wanting to add an electric starter with a charging kit for a small battery. It also has a cog belt reduction, but the belt is missing. Where can I find a cog belt suitable for this engine? Roughly how much HP is this engine making? I've built fans for bowfishing boats before, but am brand new to the airboating world, specifically 2 stroke prop engines, so I know absolutely nothing about this kind of stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello and welcome to the site. I will admit that I know very little about two stroke engines. Too many rpms for my liking lol. Ok so I did a quick Google search and came up with this info site.

Now I think with second carb it would allow you to gain a few more hp then stock but again all guessing here. As far as the cog belt id try to google and see how to determine the pitch and length and perhaps napa can get something. I've even seen cogged belts on ebay its just a matter of finding the right part numbers and doing a search. The starter deal looks like an obsolete item and you will have to fab something up unless you can find a used one somehow.

Hope all this helps and again this is all just searches as I know nothing about those engines and hopefully someone with a little more knowledge will chime in this subject and help out.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kawasaki-TC4...item258ff2126e here is a another motor like yours but this one is air cooled check out the model number in the pic and they produce about 43 to 44 horsepower @ 5000 to 7000 rpm count your teeth on both wheels to figure your reduction rather its 1.65 or 2 to 1 and then take the tension off your belt pullies and measure length around both wheels where your belt goes
then measure the width also and contact a dealer for the proper belt ! and here is another place to get a belt if needed http://www.centurydrivesystemsinc.com/briggs_mini.htm
