    air John

Im thinking of making a mini airboat but all I have is a old 14 ft john boat laying around. Would it be worth trying to build? If so what size engine, prop, and everything else. Please help me I am young and am thankful for all the help I can get.

    HD44,

Welcome to the mini forum. You have come to the right place. What you are thinking has been done many times.

Before you do anything else, I suggest you google - Air Jonboat, and Jonboat propellor, and stuff like that. You will come up with a load of info. Then, ask any questions you have on this forum and I'm sure someone on here will do there best to help you!

I'm getting ready to start a build just like this myself. Well as soon as we can find a suitable hull. It's really hard to find a wide 14 ft hull around here. Oh and welcome to the forum!

It can and has been done many times but I can tell you from my experience look for, or build, a wider bottom boat than the standard Jon. Here is a pic of the one I had, and after flipping it decided to build custom hull for the rigging I already had (see my pics in my profile). This was only a 10 footer and I got pushed into the dock by wind which caused the flip, however it always felt a little squirrelly even on calm days.
