Hey good to see you !!!! I was wondering about your build the other week about how far the progress got... The cage looks awesome !! I like the design...

Thanks Corky, welding all of those wire junctions wasn't all that fun but worth it. I shouldn't have issues with wire junctions breaking from vibrations. I will finish modifying my trailer this evening then get back to work on the boat. I just have to clean up the hull, flip it over and put the slick bottom on, flip it back over and do a little painting. Then I will prep and paint the rigging. After that, it will be ready for reassembly then final wiring and rigging of throttle cable. That is about it and I will be done......finally!
Welcome back!
I can relate to the tediousness of welding the cage wire...it looks great! Now the fun stuff happens on the build. They say that slow and steady wins the race...keep it up and you might even beat Corky to the finish line (just kidding Corky).

Well, in my defense he did start his build before me...

Lol!!!!! I finished my trailer this evening except for mounting the deck boards. I also acid washed the inside of the hull. Yesterday I finally ground down those ugly welds that were left from where I cut out the bench seat....what a pain. Corky, now I just have to find those throttle brackets you made me!!!!
Here are a couple pics
So I got an early start and this happened today....
Almost forgot about these too. Finished mounting the runners and blacked out the wheels with some plasti-dip.
Yay or nay on the "snake skin" camo? It would keep the aluminum from being so bright without costing me a fortune in paint...
I say yay...It looks fine...

Here is my cheap paint job.....at least it will be easy and quick to repair
I like the pattern, what did you use to get the design? oh, after looking at the top picture, i see the clothe that you sprayed over.
Yeah it is just a piece of old bait trawl net.
Paint is done. And I am done. Fixing to climb into this tub with my dog it is so hot outside.
Looks like the dog couldn't wait until it was filled.....Not much room left for you in there... Great idea with the pattern, the lowrider cars have been using that technique for years nice job adapting it to your build...Definitely good looking and unique for your boat...No mistaking it in the crowd...

Well with the quick slick on the bottom I can no longer roll my boat around on furniture dollies.....it just ends up in the floor as it is more effective than the dolly wheels. Set the boat on the trailer and I am going to have to add another thickness of deck board on the bow stop and maybe a piece of rubber. I could push the boat off of the trailer with my pinky finger right now. Next I will get my boat buckle tie downs installed and some tail lights. How have you guys treated your conduit before painting and how is it holding up? That is my next big undertaking. Wish there was a powder coat business in town. Also I added a couple of cargo nets under the front deck to hold life jackets and the like under the bow out of the way.

The EMT can be prepped two ways...A wash to etch the zinc coating or abrasion to rough up the coating so the paint will stick...I was going to completely sand/scotchbrite my rigging but took the easy way out and lightly sandblasted the joints and scotchbrited the straight runs...

I had read somewhere that there were certain paints you didn't want to use over galvanizing due to soponification. I have some acid hat I use to clean aluminum so I may try it, then soap and water, then acetone before I paint. Corky, I have been digging around and I still haven't found the throttle brackets you made me
