    New military standard 16 cu in 2 cyl gas engine #2

    Found a interesting engine on ebay.
    I was wondering if anyone knows how much HP it can produce?

    That is a 2A016 engine. The government de-rated it to 3 HP. Yep, you read correctly. 3 HP.

    Before you get crazy, consider this. This "family" of engines (including my 4A084 which has a Government de-rating of 20 HP, but really is good for about 40-45 HP) were de-rated by the government to run at 10,000 ft altitude, 24/7/365, with the crappiest third world gas that could be found.

    At reasonable altitude, with decent, modern gas, I think it's good for close to 8 HP.

    The way the government de-rated that family of engines was based on them being guaranteed to put out the FULL de-rated HP, with crappy gas, 24/7/365.

    Keep in mind that the governments de-rating was based on worst case war time conditions.

    I don't know for sure what it'll really do.
