Finally got a decent pic of my rig to post

OK, here it is, I finally got a pic of it in the water and not being worked on for a change! This is at the SR-50 bridge on the St.Johns river. The Details: I switched out the 4A032 for the 4A084 and increased pitch on my helix 51" to 20 degrees, it "dynoed" at 185 lbs after installing the 084, and it jumps up on plane quite nicely now. Now, about that ghetto wiring and the 1980's day-glo paint job....stay tuned!

    Well, you're making good progress.

You don't see many pointy bowed airboats, but why not?

Please though, for safety, get some wire on the cage soon.

    I like it.

yes, this is a bit of a mystery with this hull, I originally thought it was a peanut gore hull, but I'm not so sure now. Nobody I've come across on the river seems to recognize it either. It is titled as a homebuilt and there isn't any data tag on the hull which is a shame because it handles really well, I'd love to know who made it. Anybody got any ideas? As far as the wire on the cage goes, I've got no excuse on that one I've been running on the open water only so far, so I've been keeping away from the prop breaking debris but you're right, it's really risky not having it.

Yep it's risky, last time I was out I had a floatation device blow back the cage caught it but it was low enough that it it stuck to the exhaust pipe and burned it. They make a big deal here about having them readily available here so I stuff them beside my tackle box. It was the first time one had moved but $%&@ happens.

    Papee,

Personally, I think that PFDs belong ON the people, rather than stowed in a "readily available place".

Maybe it's because I had a friend die that way years ago. When they found his boat, it had several PFDs stowed in a "readily available place"... But he was still DEAD. And he was a decent swimmer.

I agree somewhat Duane, I've rescued a few kids at one time and later pulled their dead father on my boat. I don't go out on the river when it is dangerous, my legs are just to bad. A life vest wouldn't do you much good here, if you flew out of the boat, hit a rock and got knocked out you're gonna drown no matter what. The water in most places isn't deep enough for a vest to work.

    Papee,

Sounds like you oughta be wearing a helmet instead of a PFD.

Yep Buster a helmet would certainly be more useful in my case, I hit trees and rocks.

It is five feet wide and 11'6" long, I'm researching it to find out who made it. it isn't like anything else I've ever seen.

Posted an older vid of the boat with the 4A032 still in it, filmed it right before I swapped the 4a084 in, was farting around with different carbs and exhausts, and this was the best I could get it, but damn it sounds GOOD with those headers!!

Yep, it's definitely from arrow prop, I went to their website and clicked on "photos" and sure enough, it is unmistakably a first generation skooter hull!
