Will somebody please turn off the snow making machines?

I don't know about you folks, but as I listen to the forecast, it seems like we have had plenty of snow for one winter already. So far this season I have burned more gas in the plow truck than in the last two winters.

If anyone isn't fed up with the white stuff yet, just wait a day or two, the weather man promises another large load of it sunday, (just in case you haven't been listening)

    On the other hand....

One more big snow would make this one of the best snowmobiling years we have had in a long time. We have one more big trip in Bigfork next weekend.

After that however, I agree, the snow could all go away......

I'm ready, I'm just waiting on my last knee surgery to heal a bit more so I can get the boat in the garage to start making the rigging changes. I've posted about it, I'm going to raise the seating so the floor is the same level as my front deck.

    Buster,

    I hear what you're saying.

We haven't had nearly the snow that you guys have had, but we've had more than normal.

I'm ready for Spring ! Fortunately, it's been decent here in the last few days. Heck, it even got up into the 70's for a little while on Friday.

Then it cooled back down a bit...

But, Spring is coming! Hang in there.

    Duane,

Now don't you feel just a tiny bit guilty living there in NC with very little snow and fairly warm temps most of the winter, when us Nawtherners are up here freezin' are azzez off, and puttin' up with all this white stuff? Ya really should be ashamed of yourself, I think.

On second thought, I guess I'm just a bit envious, so don't mind me!

As I look out the window across the backyard, the wind is whippin' the snow so hard I can't see 100 feet. I hope Flathead gets to play with his sled one more time, then let's quit with all this winter stuff, OK?

    Buster,

YES, I do feel just a tiny bit guilty that yew Nawtherners are up there freezin' your azzez off, and puttin' up with all that white stuff.

I almost AM ashamed of myself, but I think that I'm more GRATEFUL that I have yew Nawtherners to handle that FOR me.

It's sorta' like you being grateful that we handle the Hurricanes for you.

From what I've seen on the news, you guys have really been hammered this year. Kinda' makes you wonder about all of those folks making such a big deal out of Global Warming, huh?

I sure hope that Flathead has enjoyed playing with his sled this year.

Fortunately, I have never lived next door to anyone that owns a snowmobile, a snowplow, or a snowblower. And I hope that never changes.

Ya'll hang in there. It's almost over.

    Duane,

I appreciate your optimism, however maybe you don't realize up here March is often our snowiest month. Also, a snowstorm in April and even May is not unheard of.

    Welcome to Minnesota.

    Buster,

Yeah, I hear 'ya. I think that the hardest single event snowfall that I've personally "enjoyed" was back in about '92 , '93, or '94 when I was in Atlanta. And it came in April.

At least it's beginning to warm up way down here in N.C. You guys will see it before long.

In the meantime, do you want me to mail you a box of warm air?

    Duane,

Is there any way you can arrange to send an 18 wheeler full of that warm air?

Well that snow was a pain in the butt. It was one of those snows with a thin layer of ice at the bottom and very light snow on top. It kept clogging my snow blower. I hope you guys are happy now and we can start seeing some lawn.

I remember 2 ft here in April in the early 80's.

    Buster,

I checked, and it turns out that I'm almost completely out of 18 wheelers. Seems like the only one that I have left is full of cold air. Darn it all.

We just got another 6 inches, it should be all gone in a few days after we warm up and it rains on it some. Come on 60s, I need 60 degrees before I can go out. The cold air on my knees is just too much. I had planned on putting the boat in the garage and redo the rigging but I may get some running in first before I start.

    Papee,

I hit the "SNOW OFF" button a while back.

    Wonder what's wrong...

Jiggle, jiggle, slap, slap, bang, bang.

OK, maybe THAT took care of it.

    Unhappy

I don't think that snow-off switch is working. I just heard we are getting another 2 to 3 inches tomorrow.

It's only March 9th, after all

Try tapping it with a bigger hammer

Perhaps you have the snow off button wired backwards........

I just find it odd that considering where he lives, he the one holding the snow switch.

    Papee,

I don't think they would trust us Nawtherners with that switch. I'm quite sure we would turn it off, then break off the knob.

    Bruce,

I checked, and it SEEMS to be wired correctly. Maybe it's just stuck.

    BAM, BAM, BAM.

    Buster,

I just smacked it with a bigger hammer. Hmm... it seems to still be stuck.

    Papee,

I don't know WHY I have the snow switches. Actually, I have 2 snow switches. There's the northern snow switch, and the southern snow switch. The southern snow switch seems to be working O.K. Click, Click, Click.

There must be a problem with the northern snow switch. Let me check...

    BAM, BAM, BAM.

Crud. Now it's raining here in N.C.

The good news is that we need the rain.

Oh, I just found a shorted contact on the northern snow switch. I'll pull the wire off.

Let me know how that works out.

Seriously, I know that you guys have been pounded with snow this year. Hopefully it'll be over soon.
