    John's new MiniPro 084

We are building a new MiniPro 084 for John in New Mexico. We have the new engine mounted on the engine stand and have mounted the new console.

We used the Fram Oil Filter because it was orange. The Filter # is HP1. We also located the Series 16 Battery Box to mount the Garden Tractor Battery in. The Fuel tank is a 6 Gallon that we had to pipe in the pick-up tube and vent.

The Oil cooler is a B&M Supper Cooler. The Belt Drive is the Arrowprop 1.65 to one. We have taken the upper pully off so we can try to mount a Ring Gear on it to mount the starter on top. We hope to get this done this week.

Hey Chuck, does his throttle work smooth? I have the same setup and never could get it to work smooth. It works kinda hard when you first push the pedal. My setup is a little different, I ran my cable to a pivot point and lever first then use a rod from the pivot to the carb arm. I made the change for the same reason, a longer throw.

Hey Steve, we are waiting for the machine shop to get it done. They said they would have it ready today but i haven't heard from them.
Hey Papee, our throttle does work smooth. The end of the cable has to come straight out of the Cable housing or it can cause a drag. Try to ajust the last 8 inches of the cable where it is straight.
    Thanks, Chuck

Well, we got the drive back with the starter conversion and it works as good as the one in your car. We used the 102 tooth Harley ring gear and a Chrysler starter, Bruce has not told me how much he is going to charge me but i will find out.

    Chuck,

Now that's what I'm talking about. Now you have a real starter on an 084. I predict you won't have problems with that setup. Good work.

    Chuck,

That's looking pretty darned good !

I only wish that I'd been the one to figure out how to do it.

I"m betting that it'll work just fine. Please let us know how it goes when you actually get a chance to try it, and how much one is going to cost us. (no sense in re-inventing it)

The ONLY problem that I see with this is that the starter is now located where my Solex Carb is. I'd tried to figure out how to squeeze both into the same place, (using a Mini starter) without success.

That's OK. I didn't know at the time just WHY I was saving my original intake manifold, but I'm sure glad that I did now.

    Yay!

    Thanks,

    Duane

This look's like the way to go. I never did like the starter gen. set up.Did they haft to drile new hole's in the HD ring gear. Looking at the picture you can see the stock mount hole's. not much room below them to drile new ones.

Bruce built an aluminum ring to press the ring gear on and bolted the ring to the back of the pulley. We set the rigg in the hull today and will finish the boat this weekend.

Thank you John and thanks for joining the mini forum. On this site you can check out what others are doing with their mini's. I like the name orange krush. I hope i can get to Orlando today to pick up your new hull and the rudders for the mini. That is all we have left to do. I will try to get a picture of the seat covers posted today.
    Thanks, Chuck
