    Amazon's Kindle 3G

We are going on our annual V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N (on Ocracoke Island) next week. Pam is a voracious reader, especially when on V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N.

When on V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N, I may read 2-3 books, because I enjoy reading myself. But Pam will take a sack full of books. Seriously, she'll take about 20 books.

Well, Pam decided that she wanted one of the fairly new Kindle 3G e-readers. Honestly, I was NOT too enthused with the idea. (I've always hated reading a book from the computer.)

But, it was HER decision to make... (and her money) (so I just shut my mouth)

So, she ordered one of them last Saturday. She was told that it would be delivered in 7-10 days. I tried to console her with "It ain't gonna' get here in time for our V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N", but I was wrong (as usual). It showed up MONDAY.

Let me tell you, THIS thing is VERY COOL. I can't even begin to tell you how cool it is.

Unlike so many electronic gadgets, the Kindle 3G worked just as advertised, right out of the box.

I'm NOW disappointed that she didn't order 2 of them.

If you've considered one of them, I highly recommend it.

In the past month, I have been SO envious of Pam's Kindle.

I was envious enough that I ordered one for myself a few minutes ago.

    Shame on me.

    Bruce,

The Amazon Kindle is an e-book reader. The latest, the Kindle 3G, is very nice.

There are thousands of old classics that you can get for free, and new releases are priced at about what you'd pay at the book store.

Even though its marketed to sell Amazon's books, you can get books, magazines, and newspapers from a lot of places. The web browser is pretty decent too.

We have the Kindle 3G +WiFi.

Go to www.amazon.com and check it out, or look at these links.

    Update:

In the last year, I've read at LEAST 150 books on my Kindle 3G.

I was an avid reader when I was younger, but had gotten out of the reading habit. In the last year, I've rediscovered that passion.

Back when Amazon offered up the option to pre order their new Kindle Fire a couple of months ago, I hesitated for about 5 minutes before I pre ordered my own.

In the meantime, I admittedly had some second thoughts. But I loved the Kindle 3G, and thought that the Kindle Fire might be better.

Well, I was RIGHT ! After using the Kindle 3G for a year, the Kindle Fire is sorta' like putting Pajamas on a naked cat.

    It's a WHOLE lot better.

I think I would pay for a video of you putting those PJ's on that cat. How'd that cat get naked anyway.

BTW, you really ought to take a break from reading, and finish that new airboat before it gets to be an old airboat

    Duane,

Please notice I didn't ask how to, I only asked how it did happen Anyway don't change the subject, we want to know when your boat is going for it's maiden voyage, as you know I ain't getting any younger.

    Buster,

If I told you how the Cat got naked, well that'd also be telling you how to do it...

    It just ain't 'gonna happen.

I never said anything about the Cat liking it....

I don't know for sure when the boat will take it's maiden voyage, but hopefully in early Spring.

    Duane,

You know I got tears on my keyboard from laughing. I finally realized it ain't your cat, so how long did it take you to find a picture of a cat in skin colored PJs?

Getting your boat done by spring would be good, remember you are not getting younger either

    Papee,

I don't know about that, we better not get on Duanes $__t list. If he can post a picture of a cat that looks like that, imagine what he could do to us if he really sets his mind to it

    Buster,

Finding photos of naked Cats only takes a couple of minutes on the Internet.

    Google is our friend!

    Buster,

Actually, there really are such things as truly naked (Hairless) Cats. They're cute critters, in their own way.

I'd imagine that they HAVE to be "inside" Cats, because they'd probably wouldn't tolerate an outside environment very well.

I've never seen one myself, except when Jim Fowler had one on the Johnny Carson Show, MANY years ago. (And very recently on the Internet)

"Putting Pajamas on a naked Cat" comes from an old expression in my childhood (also MANY years ago), where if something was really Good, it was called "The Cat's Pajamas".

I hope this puts your mind at ease. I'm not going around shaving homeless Cats.

Anyone who wants to P___ me off would post something about abusing Cats. You know that I love Cats.

I suppose that I have inadvertently promoted Cat abuse. My mistake. I'll loose sleep over it, for sure.

    I apologize for my mistake.

    Papee,

I like that computer desk personally, but some womens rights group is bound to have a problem with it

    Duane,

I for one am sure you would not abuse a cat, or any animal for that matter, no apology is needed and don't lose any sleep. Also I have heard, and I have even used the expression "the cats pajamas" often. I don't think it a Southern thing!

As far as the "Hairless" cats go, a cat without fur is not much of a pet in my book. Reminds me of some kind of a rodent, that purrs!

    Buster,

I tend to agree. I love most critters. You can rub, or scratch most Cats thru their fur, and you both get pleasure from the experience. Same thing with dogs, horses, Cows, Pigs, or even Women. O.K., they don't all "purr", but they can let you know when they like what you're doing.

I think that petting a hairless Cat would be about like petting a snake. O.K., so snakes don't purr. Maybe that's the problem. I sure hope that snakes don't master the art of purring.
