Danforth style Chene Slip Ring Anchor

Some of you may want to check out the Chene Slip Ring Anchor. It's a Danforth style anchor, but is a little different.

    Here are some highlights:

It's 100% retrievable. The angle of the slip ring shank allows the anchor to be 100% retrievable.

Requires 70% less anchor line. The 45 degree holding position enables the anchor to perform best with a 2:1 ratio of anchor line to depth.

Example: Chene in 20' of water. 40' of anchor line, and NO CHAIN.

Others: For maximum holding power in 20' of water requires 140' of anchor line, and 6' to 8' of chain.

    I bought mine here:

The box also had an address on it that you may be interested in checking out:

The model that I bought is #25, which is rated for boats 12 to 25 ft. The anchor itself weighs about 5-6 lbs. It gets it's holding power by design, not weight.

    Duane,

Looks like you found yourself a neat little anchor, light weight with good holding power, just what a mini airboat needs. Glad I never got around to making a standard type Danforth.

    brlcla,

I don't know about where Duane lives, but shallow water is at a premium around here

I never saw a "stick it" anchor before, or for that matter, a Power pole either. They wouldn't get much use up here

    brlcla,

The Pamlico Sound has some fairly deep water - in the 20' range, but mostly in the 10'-15' range. More than a Stick-It could handle. But I may think about getting one to use in the shallows.

I especially like "The Brake". Have you tried that?

    Thanks,

    Duane,

What the heck is "the brake"? I have tried to find someone that knows about them, no luck. Then I Googled it and all I got is about calipers and kingpins

    Buster,

"The Brake" that I was talking about is a Stick-It option.

Open this link and you'll see what I mean...

    Duane,

Well, ya learn sumptin' new every day

Thought that comes to mind is, I used to think it was a pain to find a spot in the boat to store a few extra rods. That "stick it" must be in the way most of the time.

Anyway it looks like a great system for shallow water, which my area doesn't have a lot of.
