I didn't think that there was any such thing as a FINISHED home built boat. At least I've never seen one. Usable, yes. Finished, no.

    Hey Nick
Just a guise on the speed 30mh to 35mh. It is plenty fast enough for me. I went with the two blade for two reason's . The sound it makes and It was cheaper.

    Thanks Steve

Sounds good enough for me, Who makes that prop and what is the cost? I've already used the Ivo on Rotax 2 stroke engines and they are screamers. Do you think there is a difference in power with your carb compared to the stock carb?I'm trying to come up with the best set-up for my 084 so I hope you don't mind me askin all these questions.....
    Thanks

    Hey Every one

Here is what i am using to keep my cranking battery charged. this is a regulator rectifier for a older 50hp OMC boat motor $39.00. It charges at 14.5 volts at idle and at 3.500 rpm it goes to 15.9 volts. with no load on the battery like lights or a depth finder. I ran my boat for about 4 hr to day it worked grate. I used about one Gal of gas per hr. just make sure you run a ground strap from your engine to your rigging.

    Nick,

    Here's a link to Whirl Wind's mini-props.

    http://www.whirlwindpropellers.com/h...miniprop.shtml

The website doesn't mention it, but this prop is available in 63", 65", and 67" lengths.

From what I remember, the standard length is 65". I think the 63" is a 65" with 1" cut off of each blade. And the 67" is the same blade as the 65", with an extended hub.

They also offer a 3 blade, if you have enough HP to need it. Same blades, but more of them, and a different hub.

Call them and talk with Patti. She'll get you on the right track.

If I remember right, the price is roughly $800 for the 2 blade, and roughly $1,200 for the 3 blade.

    Thanks Duane,
You're using the whirlwind aren't you? Im juggling between Ivo GSC and whirlwind. I like the performance that Chuck is gettin with the Ivo but I don't like the High pitch that prop produces. The GSC seems not to scream so much but I don't know how it will perform. Then there's the whirlwind........someone help me please! Does the 2 blade WW perform as good as the 3 blade Ivo.......... or BETTER

    Hey Nick
That is a question that i just cant answer. Not because i don't want to. Because i don't know the answer. Chuck is probably the one you need to ask. He has experience with both.

    Thanks Steve

    Thanks Steve,
Chuck already filled me in. Gonna shop around and see what I come up with. Steve do you think you will be doing a video of your build, would sure like to hear what the WW sounds like on your Mini. Did Duane make a video of his build?

    Papee,

    I deserve that jab.

It'd be a very slow motion still photo. Just sayin'

When I was still a kid, I knew a guy who'd spent about 25 years building a 25' cabin cruiser. My boat is only 13' long. You do the math. Hopefully, I'll get her done this year.

    Nick,

I have both a 66" GSC 2 blade, adjustable pitch wooden prop, and the 67" Whirlwind 2 blade Mini-prop.

Neither have been on the water yet. Right now, both are hanging on pegs in the shop.

So I can't give you a performance comparison. They BOTH look good though.

But honestly, the Whirlwind looks like it'll provide more thrust because it's blades are a lot wider. And I think it'll be quieter.

I first started looking into the Whirlwind at Chuck's suggestion. My bet is that it will be the better choice. The GSC will probably have an easy life as a wall hanger.

My money would be on... YOU.

My friends and coworkers rag me all the time about how long this is taking me.

So I'm getting used to it.

Just BUILDING the boat gives me an escape from the BS at work, and life's general BS.

I figure that the longer it takes, the longer my pleasure lasts.

I'll get her done eventually, but I'm not in a great big rush.

It took me MANY years to get started on it. I'll take my time and enjoy it.
