    Saturn Surplus

    Hey guys,

I've been meaning to get around to ordering a few essential spares from Saturn Surplus for a while, but just haven't got around to it until today. I figured I should stock up while they are still available.

I didn't go overboard... it would have been easy to do, but I restrained myself.

I ordered a crankshaft seal kit, a gasket kit, points & condensor.

Can anyone think of other essential spares that I've left off?

For that matter, does anyone know of a source for 4A084 parts other than Saturn Surplus?

    Thanks,

    Duane

    Re: Saturn Surplus

Well, I got a notice from UPS at about 3:45 this afternoon that Saturn Surplus had shipped my order. That's quick service.

    Re: Saturn Surplus

Duane, you could send me the money and I'll go pick them up and store them here for you.
I guess I've been running mine for two years now and haven't needed any parts. I forget when I put it on.
I'm catching the "forgets" from you guys.

I have an idea business is slow at UPS, same as most everywhere else.

    Duane,
Are you aware it was about 25 degrees warmer in Minnesota, than in N.C. today? We had 95 degrees I thought I should go down south to cool off

    Re: Saturn Surplus

    Hey guys,

I received my Saturn Surplus order today. Wow ! I just ordered it On Sunday, didn't I? Yep.

That's fast service. I'll have to give them a call tomorrow, because they didn't send the points and condensor kit. And there was no paperwork, so I don't know why it wasn't included.

    Papee,

I appreciate the generous offer. I don't know why I didn't think of it. I think I'll order a dozen of everything they have for a 4A084, let you pick it up (and let you pay for it), and when I need something, I can just give you a call. Then I could get free parts. There may be something that I'm missing in this plan. I forget.... Let me think about it some more.

BTW, you can't catch the "forgets". It's something that you have to work at.

    Buster,

It has been pleasant, temperature wise, here the last couple of days. Wet, but we needed the rain.

    Re: Saturn Surplus

    Hey guys,

A phone call to Saturn got it straightened out, really quickly, and easily.

They provide very good customer service, IMO.

My parts came in an over-sized box, which has room for other goodies, as I acquire them. I've labeled the box with "4A084 Parts", and put it on the top shelf in the shop. I hope to not ever need these parts, or at least not anytime soon.

I'm telling you guys where I put them, so you can help me remember later on.

    Duane,

Do you have a name in mind for this new parts inventory filing system?

Come to think about it, I should enter a whole bunch of stuff also

    Re: Saturn Surplus

    Buster,

Parts? WHAT parts? Has someone even mentioned PARTS?

"You have reached a number that has either been disconnected, or is no longer in service. Please be sure that you have the right number in mind, and have dialed it correctly, then try calling again."

    (or something like that)

The only thought that I've put into the new "parts inventory filing system", so far has been a well labeled box, with the label in plain view. I hope that works.

    Duane,

I think I solved the 084 and other misc airboat parts storage with a neat little filing cabinet my buddy was going to throw out

    Whadda ya think?

The cabinet and a 5 gal. can just happens to fit under the shop frig.

    Re: Saturn Surplus

    Buster,

It's better than what I've got, for sure.

Be forewarned about labeling things "Misc", though. Before you know it, you have a bunch of "Misc" places. Those bins seen to catch everything, and then you can't find ANYTHING.

We have one of those in the house too, although unlabeled. I'll bet you have one also? Is it the left hand drawer in the kitchen?

HOW did you know it was the left hand drawer in the kitchen? That's spooky.

    Re: Saturn Surplus

    Duane,

You really don't know who is prowling around your house when you are not at home, or sleeping

Actually, a few years ago I heard a stand up comedian do a skit about that. He mentioned that most houses have a "junk" drawer, and it is usually the left hand one in the kitchen. Works most every time

    Re: Saturn Surplus

    David,

NOW I know who's been prowling around in my house.

You had to have been to know about the 2 drawers.

So, are YOU the guy who's been stealing my socks?

I've been blaming the Scrappy cat, but she already HAS socks.

    It must be YOU.

    Duane

O.K, here's you chance to absolve yourself. Which drawer are the twisty ties in?
