    Snow for Santas Sleigh

Living in Minnesota my entire life, I have only had to think about this a few times, since we nearly always have a "White Christmas". When their is no snow, we can usually come up with an alternate plan, like "uncle Charlie volunteered to haul Santa and the presents around in his truck", etc..

Since I had gotten involved with airboats, and a some great southerners that seldom if ever have snow,I have started to think about this again. I think I've figured out what you tell the kids when there is no snow for Christmas.

I'll bet you have the kids convinced that Santas sleigh "runs dry".

    Am I right

    Dave,

I always thought that Santa's sleigh had retractable wheels, like an airplane.

But your idea sounds good too. Yeah, he's got polymer runners on that sleigh.

The only snow I've seen at Christmas was when I was up North somewhere, and trying to get home for Christmas. Ohio in '69, Chicago in '72, New York in '77, Pennsylvania in '90. Hmmm... there were others, but I forget.

When it's an obstacle to getting home, it loses some of its charm.

Hope ya'll have a Merry, White Christmas.

    Hey Buster,

Everyone down here knows that Santa's sleigh can fly. No snow needed.

    Merry Christmas guy's.

    Hey jim,

Ya everyone knows that sleigh flies, but it has to touch down someplace, at least on the roof.

I still think it runs dry, even if only for short distances, but I'm always open for other opinions. BTW, - why not check Christmas morning for poly skid marks on your roof?

You have a very merry Christmas too.

Santa was going to upgrade to a Mini Airboat but we could not get it to fly. He did say the reindeer could help him get unstuck when in the swamps but we would have to design a model that would fly.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE

Merry Christmas to all from Mike and family !

BTW ... Santa's sleigh don't fly. It's the raindeer that fly.

    Wildfowl,

I believe you are right, it is the reindeer that give flight to the sleigh.

    Chuck,

I have given a lot of thought to your problem, and I think I know how to overcome It.
OK, The sleigh (or airboat) is pulled by nine reindeer, including Rudolf. That should take care of the forward thrust, and steering, and some of the lift. This leaves the engine, prop, and rudders, free to provide the extra needed lift.

If you were to mount the rudders horizontal, and tie the stick all the way back, I think you will have a flying airboat. Just paint it red, and add some of Santas magic, and it should work out just fine.

I would like to wish a very merry Christmas to everyone on the forum that has put up with all my nonsense.
