Thread: How's the water?

    Re: How's the water?

This mornings temp here is 12 on the thermometer but it feels like -1 Last week we had two days in the high 60's and low 70's!

The cold isn't that bad when it comes on slow but with the warm November today might as well be -100. Not allot of work getting done around here this weekend.

    Dave,

Hmmm.... a 3,000 foot wall of water.

Maybe I should be building a bigger boat.

    Duane,

Well, I was going to suggest you check out the military surplus auctions, thinking the Navy may something for you. Then I realized there isn't a boat in the world that would handle that.

I would just move to Minnesota if I were you

    Re: How's the water?

    Dave,

So I've got these 2 choices: Move to Minnesota, or take my chances with a Tsunami. Let me think about that....

    O.K., times up !

I'll take my chances.... but will keep the boat gassed up.

    Duane,

Well OK, but don't say I didn't warn ya.

In case you change your mind, and get here in the the next couple of months, there won't be many mosquitoes (as a bonus).

I'll take my chances here, after all, they don't have a lot of tsumanies on Gitchigumi.

Every time I wish the weather was warmer here we go to our place in GA. That's enough for me to appreciate our weather even when it's cold.

    Re: How's the water?

    Dave,

If that Tsunami does get me, I won't be ABLE to say that you didn't warn me.

You can say that you told me so, but I won't be around to hear it.... so there.

And if it doesn't get me, I will have been spared another Minnesota winter.

    Oh, HAPPY DAY !!!!

BTW, is there really a "Gitchigumi"? I've always thought it was a made up name just to make things rhyme. Duh.

I'll stick here close to the Tar River.

    Re: How's the water?

There sure is a Gitchigumi! It is the Ojibwe tribe word for "Big Water", meaning Lake Superior, the biggest freshwater lake in the world

It is mostly very clear water. Is the river you mentioned really similiar to tar? Now don't get your undies in a bunch, I'm just kiddin'

    Re: How's the water?

    Dave,

    No bunched up panties here.

I don't now the facts on how the Tar river got its name, but think it's from back in the old days when they were collecting pine tar for ship building. Back then the rivers were the highways.

Tar river - Tar heel - I don't know. Remember, I ain't from around here.

But it's just another muddy Southern river.

    Re: How's the water?

    Duane,

I wish I could say all the muddy rivers were in the south, but it's not so. The Mississippi starts at Lake Itasca in Northern Minnesota. I have walked across it's pristine water without getting my knees wet.

By the time it gets to the Twin Cities, it's really muddy already. It must be super bad when it gets to the Gulf
