    Redrives

Here's a redrive I built and sold in the late 90's. Ran 27 Mph with 2 people in deep water on Kohler 25 HP. Wasn't much demand for them back then.

    rbengines,

Well, hopefully the current demand for them will work out more in your favor now.

Was that a stock 25 HP Kohler?

    What was the reduction ratio?

    Was that an Ultra Prop?

    What diameter?

    What pitch?

    What kind of hull?

You can't throw a juicy carrot like that out in front of me, and not expect a bunch of questions....

Thanks, and welcome again to the Mini Forum.

That wa a 2-1 drive 59" pitch 9 degee blocks Ultraprop. I recam it with a Competition Cam custom cam. I built the cam shaft blanks and they put their grind on it from the go cart dept. Engines turned 5800Rpm prop 2900 Rpm. Figures out around 225 thrust. Always run as much diameter as you can and keep the tip speed below the sound barrier. Static thrust will be better. Hull was a home build. About 125Lbs bare.

Thanks I have realy enjoyed this site and have been down the road with experimenting. If only I had the Hp of the new engines back then. The stock engines of today make ample power stock. Just remove the governers.

    rbengines,

    That's a nice looking boat.

It sure seems like you know what you're doing.

I apologize for my previous "welcome to the forum" posts. I know that I may have sounded
a bit condensending, but that was NOT my intent. I thought that you were another newby, and I was just trying to invite you into the fold. Sorry about that.

I'll bet that Chuck is still laffing about it.

Don't matter. Chuck has helped me out a lot, and if I can give him a laff, I'm proud of that.

    Re: Redrives

No need to apologize and I am new back to the mini's. I'm an old dog that can use a few new tricks. I've talk to Chuck over the phone. He knows what he is talking about and has done his homework. I like his fiberglass 116. That is what prompt me to look again at the Mini's. I'm hoping to get one soon. The Kohler or the Generac engine will probably be my pick of engines. The boat was one of two I built. I no longer own it but a friend does now and he loves it. I keep reading the posts looking to learn from others. You're never too old or too smart to learn from someones experience.

Hey rb, you mention the generac engines, Extreme V Twins has started doing mods on them to get them going. I think they like them better than the briggs.

Chuck I found this on e-bay. A company are installing a stroker crank in the 750's and making 44HP and 68 ft/lb of torque 9.9 C/R. The Kohler I had is still running strong today so that says a lot about Kohler. They are over built and tuff to take that kind of RPM's all these years
