Didn't catch but two fish this weekend but one made up the difference. Got to stock the freezer before it gets too cold.

Nice meat but I want the truck! Put a little sleeper on the back an it would make a cool tow rig for the boat with a little left over room for a cooler or two.

The pan in the last picture is larger than it looks.
Normally i would think twice about keeping a cat this size ( although one over 34" is legal ) but as you can see he injured himself and would have died anyway.
I will try to remember to get pictures of the river next time.

Airhead,
Now that's a whole lot of catfish.
I've never caught or tried eating a really BIG catfish. Do they get tough when they get that big?
How do you cook it? Do you cut / fillet it into fryable sized pieces, or make a stew of it, or what?
Thanks,
Duane

Around here they get a bit more "fishy" tasting when they are that big. I cut mine up in "nuggets" about 1 1/2" then bread them and deep fry.
Here's a video from last year of the grandson's first catfish.

I'll bet he was a happy guy and had some stories for a while.
Jim
When I first moved here to N.C. (12 years ago), I kept hearing folks raving about rockfish stew.
I didn't even know what a "rockfish" was. And I'm still not sure. I think it's what I grew up knowing as a striped sea bass.
Anyway, I've tried a couple of variations of "rockfish stew". I was not real impressed with any of them. The basic recipe is fish, potatoes, tomatoes, and other stuff. Seems like more potatoes than anything else. It was good, but I'd call it fish flavored potato stew.
I think it may be better if made with a big Cat.
Just wondering out loud ....

Duane,
Are the stripe sea bass like the ones we have here or are they saltwater fish?
We have stripe, which actually have a stripe down their side and get real big. We also have the hibread but the biggest one of them i have ever caught was about seven pounds. I actually ate some of the hibread and they had a real strong fish taste. That's the only way i know to explain it anyway. We were camping so i tried to eat some leftover the next day but it was a little much.
Now all the stripe are loaded with pcb's. THANKS TO MONSANTO!
Jim
Very nice Airhead! Did you get it on a hook or were you going right in after it?
Nice video too Papee.

Jim,
I really do not know. As far as I know, they are salt-water fish. I am not good at identifying fish, especially when they are on a plate, ready to eat, and I am hungry.
