    outboard power head?

I have access to a chrysler 55hp outboard. Can i use this engine power head on a mini airboat.? I belive the water pump is in the lower unit. So a electric water pump would be needed. Has anyone done something like this.???

    Re: outboard power head?

Hey Doxiedog, I haven't heard of anyone using an outboard engine for an airboat. I think you would have to make too many parts to make it work. Any parts for the motor you might need later would be expensive and hard to find.
    Thanks, Chuck

    Re: outboard power head?

I did see a 120 HP Mercury Sport Jet Power Head used in a Helicopter.
That was a 2 cycle engine mounted upside down, the guy just unbolted
the exhaust and the carb/intake and flipped it so the was in the "normal"
position. He used an electric water pump and a VW radiator.

It crashed, will see if I can get a picture ot two of it. Last I knew it
was sitting on the stone row next to the little landing strip not far from here.
The owner used a dozer and crushed it up so no one could ever fly it again.
    4th crash of the thing.
