I have my mini set up for bass fishing. In my area we run on the Susquehanna River which is low water and a lot of rocks. Because of the rocks we use thicker aluminum hulls. I first put mine together just to be able to get around in these low water conditions, sometimes only a few inches. I probably spend the better part of the time at low speeds or idling from one fishing spot to another. When I first put it together, it planed out well but as I added more seating, trolling motor, live well, and extra batteries, it was too much weight to plane. At that point I tore the 18 hp Briggs down and did a few mods to it bring up the horse power. I also experimented with different props until I found the one I use now, a 2 blade carbon fiber model. Right now I have minimum pitch on it and it works well but plan on installing a reduction drive in the near future so I can put more pitch in the prop.
