    Re: 12x7 aumitec 35 briggs

JMO, stay with 12'. Displacement is one of the reasons the Alumitech ultralight hull is right for a mini project. Hope your hand heals quickly.

    Re: 12x7 aumitec 35 briggs

Started with a cog belt reduction. I switched to a 4-v belt. I know a bunch of the mudmotor guys trick out their Briggs motors, but it will shorten their life span. Where are you located and where...

    Re: 12x7 aumitec 35 briggs

Check the shaft diameter on the Briggs. They made two, 1 1/8" & 1 7/16". I twisted the smaller diameter crank off with a similar setup to your build. Had to have crank replaced and prop repaired....

    Re: rotax 582 with a 2.6x 1 reduction

You might want to look for a c box with 2.6 to 1 gears. Power band on 582 (583) is 6-6.5k rpm. You need prop speed up around 2.5 k to get to most out of whirlwind razors. I ditched my warp drives...

    Re: rotax 582 with a 2.6x 1 reduction

My 583 with the same gear ratio turns a 2 blade 70" Whirlwind Razor X-Core. Rotax Rick also went through mine. Pitch is now set to hold WOT on trailer just below 8k rpm. Had Rick put a clutch in my C...

    Re: Bowfishing fan boat

just a suggestion, put some wire mesh around your prop cage asap. better to never need it than need it and not have it. remember, in a contest, the prop always wins.

    Re: Briggs to Rotax swap

Inspecting b box after failure, found straight cut prop gear missing 6 of the 57 teeth. All 19 crank gear teeth looked chewed on and spit out. The new c box has helical cut gears much heavier than...

    Re: Briggs to Rotax swap

Well, I learned that a b box 3:1 will not stay together on a 583 swinging a 70" whirlwind prop. Had to go with a c box 2.62:1 and adding a clutch this month. We will see how this holds up...
