  1. What is the best way to upload photos for public sharing ?

This site needs hundreds of photos to show and teach what is possible and how. Unfortunately I click on ALBUMS and I get nothing !
I have some photos to upload but dont really see how to do it in...
  2. Re: Lightest possible Hull ... Wood or Aluminum?

Show us some pics please !
  3. Re: 50HP (Tot) Twin Engine Briggs VTwins on Jon Boat

No one way clutches or centrifugal clutches were used in the original prototype ( pic shown ) what happened was that
if one engine died the other engine would not turn the dead engine and the...
  4. Re: Lightest possible Hull ... Wood or Aluminum?

I read somewhere that a company with the word (PRO) in their name ... AIRBOAT PROS maybe ? had
a smallish airboat hull made out of fiberglass that was said to weigh only 157 pounds. does...
  5. Re: OK OK the absolute lightest - Two WindSurf boards as pontoons

you would use the air rudder just like the air rudder on an ordinary flat bottomed airboat. You would slide sideways a bit then the motor
is blowing you in a different direction. The surf...
  6. OK OK the absolute lightest - Two WindSurf boards as pontoons

I could build a frame of sorts with a flat panel elevated over and across two wind surf boards that weigh about 30 pounds each.

These boards without rudders or keel would slip and slide all around...
  7. Re: 20hp and 25ho Briggs Vanguard on SeaNymph and HarberCraft Jon boat

Notice that on the Ten footer we moved the driver seat forward a few feet and that increased the speed by 4 or 5 mph at top end.

Also on the larger SeaNymph.... we were able to get two fairly big...
  8. Re: 50HP (Tot) Twin Engine Briggs VTwins on Jon Boat

Yes both engines were spinning the same large prop. The belt wrapped around like a triangle.

    Re: Water bug

It is a vicious design circle just like in airplanes. When a plane gets heavier you need a more powerful engine to lift it off the ground and the
engine is therefore bigger and heavier. Then you...

Re: Why don't I see any....

depending on your requirements in some ways a Cat setup will outperform a flat bottom setup.
Top end straight away speed I would think on smooth water. Handling in turns and on ground would...

    Re: Water bug

Are you close enough to the end to predict any weights of the total hull or the separate hull components ?
When all is said and done it all adds up to the total weight of the airboat and I was...

Oklahoma fiberglass boats ten years ago

There is a company called Great Plains Aircraft that mainly I think sells VW engines and reduction drives for airplanes but ten
years ago the same company that machines their prop hubs for VW...
  13. Catamaran or Pontoons best performance / lowest drag ?

For low power open water running the guy recently posting about his Cat Hull mock up got me to thinking.
Considering racing hydroplanes are sort of catamarans in a way... lower water surface...
  14. Lightest possible Hull ... Wood or Aluminum?

I am thinking about an 11' x 60in deck over hull to be powered by a Briggs or Kohler 35hp VTwin with reduction
and it will likely be flown solo always. I believe I could use thin plywood on the...

Re: Chomping at the bit for maiden voyage

Ya mounted the propeller on backwards ! Simple mistake. Easy to fix !
  16. 50HP (Tot) Twin Engine Briggs VTwins on Jon Boat

This offers some twin engine redundancy to get you home when an engine might fail.
  17. 20hp and 25ho Briggs Vanguard on SeaNymph and HarberCraft Jon boat

Jon Boats powered by 20hp Briggs Vanguard and 25hp Kohler VTwins

If you dont bog these boats down with too much payload they can really zip along.

These are not for family outing sight...
