Re: need info on 503 rotax setup
Hey bogger, Thanks for joining the site. The 503 will be an excellant choice to power a minipro 116. The hull sells for $ 1895.00 and you get your choice of colors. Where are you located?
Thanks, Chuck

Re: need info on 503 rotax setup
Man very time I try to post a picture I loose My post. I brouse to my Jpeg file and add but is says in valid. I was going to send a picture.
Any ways I have a 503 rotax single 54mm. carb, dual cdi ignition, B type 2.58 reduction, with pull start Which I am not thrilled with. But will change when mo money comes around. It came from a Weed hopper ultralight and just had it's 500 hour rebuild. the motor was hung in this air craft with the reduction up.
Do you guys think it will run dry ground with lets say a 116 or rd2?
Rotax says it rated at 46 hp. But i don't know if that is at sea level or not.
Would it be a bad to hang it like it was with the reduction up?
I am sure that lowering 75 pounds would help with the center of gravity. But would crate some challanges with the motor supoort stucture.
Is half inch tubing stong enough for the motor?
Let me know your opinions,
Chuck are you the man to contact for a hull?
thanks.

Re: need info on 503 rotax setup
bogger the software for the forum will only take a photo so big. You photo size or file size may be too big.
Re: need info on 503 rotax setup
Hey Bogger, The motor can be mounted the same as in the aircraft with the gear up. When the engine stand is built right the 1/2 tube will hold it. I am the only one that sells the MiniPro 116. The RD2 can be bought at Alumitech, Swamp Bug Airboats and Airboat Pro's. They don't call it the RD2. I came up with that name. I named it after Ronnie Deschamps, he designed and tested our first metalworks for them. It don't run the ground as good as the 116 but it will carry more weight. Thanks, Chuck

Well, I just posted the above photo using your user account and it worked so it will take at least that size.
Re: need info on 503 rotax setup
Thanks I will try again. I think my original photo was 2.8 meg.I'll see if i can change the resolution on my camera to get a smaller file too.

Re: need info on 503 rotax setup
Hey guy"s I
I'm tinkering around with the prop speed tool on PPong.I be confused.
They say you don't want to be above .88 to .92 % of the speed of sound.
They say maximum thrust should be when you are at maximum rpm.
They say maximim power for the prop. is in the .88 to .92 mach.
I have a maximum motor speed of 6800 RPM.
I have a 2.58 reduction.
This should give me a max prop speed of 2636 rpm.
If I use a 66 inch prop, and use a prop speed of 2636, AT 85 degree's
I end up with mach .664 which is 517 MPH.
This is well below maximum power out put for a prop this size.
Does this mean I will never reach the full potential for my prop?
Am I a stray here?
They also mention cruse speed. Is this maybee 1/2 to 3/4 speed?
Please some one square me away.
Thanks Bogger
