I only celebrate my birthday on odd years, it keeps me young. Thanks guys. I have the last piece of the boat off to modify, my starter is not engaging right so I had to take off one of the mounts and slot the hole a bit. After that I'm ready to get back on the river. I put in a clear filter at the carb and I've already trapped a few pieces that would have caused problems.
I think I finally found out the culprit, it;s the pump ball. I have the filter on so I think I'm safe but I did order a new one.

Glad you found your fuel starvation problem! My boat has been running remarkable well with the EMPI setup but I still need to do some adjusting since it won't take acceleration from idle well. I've adjusted the carb and tried several accelerator pump settings but haven't found the right combination yet. Thank goodness for the aircooled.net site as they have great technical articles.
