The grandson and I had a very good day. It was most likely the best day in five years for me. We caught fish ranging between 6" and 17" a lot of fish in the 13"-14" range. You know it's a good day when you quit counting. If I had to guess I would say I caught around 25 and he about a dozen. I did let him reel a few of mine in so I'm not who gets credit for them... most likely him.

We fished an area about 11 miles long jumping around as he got a bit antzy. We got a late start, about 9am and fished until about 3pm.

The fish were everywhere we fished, in the rapids and the quick drifting water, we had planned on taking photos of every fish but soon decided to just have fun. We also quit measuring and started guessing so of course the fish sizes got bigger as the day went on.

I had been ready to quit about 12:00 but I just couldn't get him to quit and how can a good Pappy say no. It took me a whole day to recover because of my knee replacement troubles but I'd do it all again in a minute!

I'll put these up as links because I haven't had time to resize them.
All fish were caught on a Rebel Crawlfish (Rainbow)

Congratulations Papee,

You gave one kid a day he'll remember all his life! Looks like you had a good time too. I only have one question, It's hard to tell from the pictures, but are you sure they aren't all the same fish? :&&::&&::&&:

Would I do that? Bass fishing has been on bad the last few years and we have only catch and release here in my area. So no, different fish, we did catch a lot of fish the same size though... right about the 14" mark. He fishes with me a lot so he has any days like this. I've been taking him out in the boats since he was around 3 years old, the first time with his mother. He was so well behaved in the boat and wanted to sit by himself I decided to try taking him out alone. He loved it from the first time he was on it. This was the first time I let him drive the boat other than just at idle. As you know, it is harder to steer the boat at idle than it is on plane. He was really good at knowing which way to pull the stick to steer so I asked. "are you ready, I'm going to give it more gas". Sitting in the front seat I can use my hand to control the gas. He did great, he watched the water and when he saw ripples( from rocks near the surface) he would turn away from them. He really did a great job... he's 10 BTW. I figure it would be a good idea for him to know how to work the boat just in case something would happen to me at camp or on the water.
