Here is some fun you can have on the Middle Elkhorn in NE:
Family has property so it was more practical to drive but sending the pictures because the offer to put you on good water if you come is always open.

The river...a bit high...about an inch lower and 1/2 would be sand. BTW the Elkhorn is one of the best kept catfish fisheries secrets.

Two years ago after the Thunder on the Loup airboat race in Palmer, we stayed at a nice campground on the river in that area - Three Rivers State Park I think. Met up with Darrell Starks from Elkhorn Valley airboats. Darrell and June took us out to Farmer Brown's steak house in Waterloo - Florida beef sucks compared to that Nebraska corn fed beef!!! Didn't get to bring the airboat up that year cause we hauled the 5th Wheel with our motorcyles and went on up to Sturgis. Last year had to just fly in and out for the race cause only had time for a long weekend. This year, am hoping to drive up with airboat and stay a couple weeks. Do the race and then explore Nebraska's lovely airboat country. Right now fixing the boat, replacing the busted poly with some Gatorback.

Hi Jeff and welcome back this year.

We do get our fair share of compliments on the beef. Farmer Browns is an old family haunt for six generations. Good food - good people.

Valley and Fremont are great hubs for a trip as you can take your pick of either the Platte or Elkhorn rivers....
They intersect just south of Valley but it is almost worth the 20 minute drive by car to put in the Elkhorn north of Valley.

Do the Loup,....than probably western NE Platte (Grand Island area water permiting), and than Fremont/Valley area for the Platte and Elkhorn. There is also Columbus and Plattsmouth on the Platte just west and east of Fremont. You may also want to consider a couple of rivers in IA as well. Des Moines is only 2 1/2 hours away(from Fremont) and there are a couple rivers between here and there. "Des Moines Boater" on SA would be worth chatting with.

I am sure you have made a good number of new friend in your travels here...That's the way we roll in NE.

You will be in good company and with no shortage of suggestions on places to run. I'll send you a PM with contact info as you can never have too many contacts when traveling away from home. If your interested I have a spot you can camp between the Fremont ramp and the Fremont Airboat club. Two miles from gas(UL and AV), grocery, and food.

Don't forget the first weeks in August here can be brutal hot and thats before the sun comes up.

Safe travels,
